SAF Promotion and Corporate’s Scope 3 Reduction Project By the Tokyo Metropolitan Government
Kintetsu World Express, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a designated forwarder for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's SAF Promotion and Corporate’s Scope 3 Reduction Project.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has launched a subsidy program for air cargo transport using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in this fiscal year's budget. This is to support the decarbonization of companies in the Tokyo metropolitan area. TMG has issued a public call for applications from freight forwarders to become subsidy recipients. KWE applied for the program with a specific plan description, and our plan was adopted, and we were selected as a designated forwarder to receive the subsidy.
Under this program, the cost of the SAF environmental attributes, which is in addition to the normal freight transportation cost, will be subsidized on the premise that our customers, shipper companies, purchase and use the SAF environmental value for air cargo transportation to and from Haneda and Narita airports, and receive a CO₂ emission reduction certificate issued by us (certified by a third-party organization). The subsidy is available to small and medium-sized companies up to 3,000,000 yen per company and ten-tenths of the cost, and to large companies up to 10,000,000 yen per company and two-thirds of the cost.

We will take this opportunity to further collaborate with our partner airlines and make further contributions to the expansion of SAF use in Japan and the decarbonization of society.
