"Corporate’s Scope 3 Reduction Project 2026 for Air and Sea Transport" By the Tokyo Metropolitan Government
Kintetsu World Express, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a designated forwarder for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Corporate’s Scope 3 Reduction Project for Air and Sea Transport," marking the third consecutive year of designation since the program's inaugural year.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) launched a subsidy program for air cargo transport using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in 2024. This is to support decarbonization of companies with their head office or branch registered and conducting substantial business operations in the Tokyo metropolitan area. TMG has issued a public call for applications from freight forwarders to become subsidy recipients. KWE applied for the program with a specific plan description, and we were selected as a designated forwarder to receive the subsidy again.
In its third year, the program has been expanded to include sea freight in addition to air freight. Eligible shipments are those departing from or arriving at Haneda and Narita airports for air, and ports within Tokyo Bay for sea transport. The subsidy structure is as follows:
| Category | Maximum Amount | Subsidy Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Large Enterprises | ¥4,000,000 per company | 1/3 of eligible costs |
| SMEs | ¥2,000,000 per company | 10/10 (full coverage) |
Under this program, the cost of the SAF and other biofuel environmental attributes, which is in addition to the normal freight transportation cost, will be subsidized on the premise that our customer shipper companies purchase and use the environmental attributes, and receive a CO₂ emission reduction certificate issued by us and certified by a third-party organization.

We will take this opportunity to further collaborate with our partners and make further contributions to the expansion of SAF and other biofuel use in Japan and the decarbonization of society.
