Customer Advisory: U.S. Tariffs on China Begin; Mexico and Canada Negotiations Continue

Feb. 4, 2025
Customer Advisory

The U.S. government has implemented a 10% tariff on all imported goods from China, effective February 4, 2025. In response, China has announced retaliatory tariffs on U.S. exports, set to begin on February 10. Meanwhile, the planned 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada have been postponed for 30 days as both countries strengthen border enforcement.

Key Updates:

  • China: Retaliatory tariffs on several U.S. products, including agriculture, technology, and automotive products, are set to take effect on February 10th.
  • Mexico and Canada: The previously scheduled 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada have been postponed for 30 days in exchange for strengthened border security from both countries.

For assistance in understanding and complying with these tariff changes, please contact: customs_compliance_group@am.kwe.com
