Transportation Operations to be Impacted by Nationwide Strike in Belgium

A nationwide general strike is scheduled to take place across Belgium on Monday, March 31st, 2025, beginning at 00:00 and ending at 23:59 local time.

Brussels Airport (BRU) has canceled all outbound flights, and inbound flights may also experience delays and cancellations due to the participation of ground handling and security personnel. Cargo operations at BRU will be severely limited, with only life-saving cargo permitted for transport during the strike period.

Broader transport disruptions are also expected, including rail freight and port operations. Five railway unions and maritime workers have confirmed their participation Monday’s strike. Some vessels have already been diverted to neighboring ports, and additional delays are likely.
