Customer Advisory: U.S. Compliance Update
- FINAL REMINDER - Suspension of ISPM 15 Hyphen Requirement Ends December 31st, 2025
Starting January 1st, 2026, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will resume enforcement of this requirement. All other provisions of International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) have remained in effect throughout the suspension and will continue to be enforced. Importers, trading partners, and wood packaging material (WPM) manufacturers should ensure markings are fully compliant with ISPM 15, Annex 2, including the required hyphen separating the two-letter country code from the producer code. For non-compliant shipments, enforcement actions may include cargo holds, penalties, re-export, and re-conditioning, among others. For additional information, contact: QPAS-AQI@usda.gov
