Customer Advisory: CBP Expands Visibility into CAPE Refund Processing via ACE Reports
Following the launch of the Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) tool on April 20, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has introduced new reporting capabilities within the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) to help importers and brokers track refunds of duties imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA),
Key Updates:
- Enhanced tracking of refund status: New reports link CAPE declarations with entry and refund data, allowing users to monitor progress from submission through Treasury issuance.
- Visibility into payment outcomes: Reports now identify key statuses such as “Sent to Treasury,” “Treasury Issued,” “Funds Diverted,” and rejected refunds due to incomplete ACH enrollment.
- Improved operational insights: Additional reporting tools provide entry-level detail, support reconciliation, and help identify issues requiring follow-up, including rejected ACH transactions.
CBP has also encouraged users to schedule recurring reports within ACE to streamline monitoring and improve efficiency. Refund disbursements via Automated Clearing House (ACH) are expected to begin as early as May 12, 2026.
For further details, please refer to the official CBP CSMS message.
