Unscheduled Work Stoppage at the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles
Apr. 7, 2023
Customer Advisory
The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach remain closed after an unscheduled work stoppage beginning April 6, 2023, and continuing into the first shift today, April 7, 2023.
The stalemate between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), which represents dockworkers across the West Coast, and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), which represents West Coast port employers, has created an environment where work disruptions by local labor unions have dotted operations across the US West Coast and Pacific Northwest. Both parties have a hush order on the release of information to the public.
As of this morning, some carriers have confirmed that all Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals canceled vessel, yard, rail, and gate operations ahead of a potentially longer work stoppage.
KWE will continue to monitor the situation as it develops— we aim to mitigate any disruptions to client supply chains. Please contact your local representative for further information.
