- The U.S. Department of Commerce communicated several reassessments on Italian pasta, as reported by the Italian Foreign Ministry, reducing the rate from 91.74%—to be added to the 15% “horizontal” tariff agreed for European Union (EU)-origin products in general—to 2.26% for La Molisana, 13.98% for Garofalo, and 9.09% for the remaining 11 non-sampled producers. Implementation remains suspended pending the conclusion of the investigation, scheduled for March 11th, 2026.
- CSMS # 67270895 – Electronic Refunds Interim Final Rule Effective February 6th, 2026:S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will issue all refunds electronically via Automated Clearing House (ACH), with limited exceptions. Please also refer to the Federal Register notice.
- We urge our customers to sign up for ACH as soon as possible. Please refer to our Customer Advisory dated January 1st, 2025, which details the procedure.
- Section 232 tariff increases on timber, lumber, and derivative products (such as upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, etc.) set for January 1, 2026 have been delayed by Presidential Proclamation. The 25% import tariff on kitchen cabinets, certain upholstered furniture, and vanities, imposed September 25, 2025, remains in effect.
- China expands rare earth export controls.
- The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) eFiling team will host a virtual webinar on January 8th (2:00–3:00 p.m.), marking the six-month point until the full implementation date of eFiling.
- Following deployment of the Forced Labor Portal in January 2026, shipments detained or excluded for enforcement that importers wish to have reviewed by the port of entry or a Center of Excellence and Expertise must be submitted through this portal.
