Job title : Senior General Manager
Department : Operation Affairs
Company : Kintetsu World Express (HK) Ltd.
Location : Hong Kong, China
Throughout a 29-years' tenure in KWEHKG, Andy has accumulated a wealth of diverse and fascinating experiences. Along with this journey, he would highlight two significant chapters of his career: his role in airfreight operations and the involvement in the implementation of the company's global system. Additionally, he would share a particularly challenging work experience during the network outage in 2006 and the subsequent involvement in establishing a task force at the Shanghai office.
Path in Airfreight Operations
For nearly three decades, I have been an integral part of the airfreight operations in KWEHKG. This role has provided me with a deep understanding of the complexities and intricacies of global logistics. From coordinating shipments to ensuring smooth movement, my job demands meticulous attention to detail and effective communication skills. Over the years, I have witnessed the evolution of the industry, adapting to technological advancements and changing market dynamics. This experience has shaped me into a seasoned professional capable of handling the challenges inherent in international logistics.
Implementing the Company's Global System
One particularly interesting phase of my career was the involvement in the implementation of the company's global system. As businesses increasingly embraced digital transformation, corporate recognized the need for a unified system to streamline operations across regions. Back to 2004, I had the privilege of being part of the team entrusted with this critical task. This endeavor required a comprehensive understanding of the operation processes, effective collaboration with colleagues from different divisions, and a keen eye for identifying potential bottlenecks. Witnessing the successful integration of the system by January 1, 2015, and its positive impact on the entire operation was truly rewarding.
Overcoming a Fatal Network Outage and Establishing a Task Force
By the year end of 2006, KWEHKG encountered a severe network outage that disrupted the operations and threatened the ability to serve their clients effectively. The situation called for immediate action, and I was selected to be one of the leaders of a task force setting up at Shanghai office to address the crisis. Working tirelessly with a team of dedicated professionals, the team quickly assessed the extent of the problem and formulated a recovery plan. Despite the immense challenges and time constraints, the collective efforts enabled them to sustain operations and business within a remarkably short period. This experience not only tested the resilience but also highlighted the importance of effective teamwork and swift decision-making during times of crisis.
