Job title : Lyon Terminal Manager & IT Co-Ordinator
Department : Operations & IT
Company : Kintetsu World Express (France) S.A.S.
Location : Lyon, France
Michel, having always preferred practice to theory, started working immediately after passing his high school diploma in Transport Operations in 1990. Starting as an Import and Customs Clearance Officer and then an Export Officer at several global freight forwarders, he finally joined KWE in 2000. He started in the Export department and is now the LYS Office Terminal Manager and also KWE France's IT Coordinator. He has always worked in the freight forwarding industry.
I love air freight and technology
After a high school diploma in Transport Operations, I chose to work in air freight due to my love for this type of transport. It is fast-paced and suits my temperament, and this work also allows me to travel virtually and to get to know other cultures. Having worked for a number of different forwarding agents, I ended up at KWE after 10 years in this industry. It has the advantage of being a large international group with the power that goes with it, and to be an SME in France with the advantages and flexibility that go with it. I joined as an Export Forwarding Agent, then became Export Manager and finally Terminal Manager of LYS Office. Being slightly a geek, I later also became KWE France's IT Coordinator, which enables me to keep up to date with the latest technology, something I'm particularly fond of.
Japanese quality and customer relationships
It has now been 23 years since I joined KWE France and I'm still here because I like Japanese quality, despite being very challenging to apply it in my own country. I've been working in air freight for 33 years now and it's still just as exciting as when I started. I was lucky enough to choose all the members of my team, which allows me to come to work with confidence with an agency that is moving forward. I am very proud of the strong relationships our agency builds with our customers, notably with one of our now main customers who I've been working with for over 23 years, which is very rare in our industry.
